What You Need to Know about our Billing Process

Thank you for choosing Sutter North Medical Foundation for your health care needs. We welcome you and look forward to providing you with the excellent health care you expect. We are extremely proud of our organization and consider it a privilege, as well as a responsibility, to make sure every
patient has a positive experience.

Patient Registration and Accounting Services

Your initial registration is the first phase of your health care experience at Sutter North Medical Foundation, and billing through
the Patient Financial Services department should conclude each visit. To help ensure all phases of your health care experiences are positive, we would like to provide you with information to help you understand the complexities involved in health care insurance billing.

Two items are essential for prompt and accurate billing to your insurance company:
• Your current insurance card or
information; and
• Your insurance prior authorization for services or procedures if required by your health insurance carrier.

If you do not have your insurance information with you at the time of registration or need to update or change your information, it is extremely important you provide
this information to the Customer Service Unit as soon as possible. They can be reached by calling (530) 749-3562 or by email at snmfpfs@sutterhealth.org.

Physician and Surgery Billing

Sutter North’s Patient Financial Services Department will process and submit all Sutter North Medical Group physician and SNMF facility-based charges to your primary and secondary insurance companies.
Your insurance carrier is billed based on the information you provided at registration.
You will receive a billing statement from SNMF after your insurance has paid their portion of the charges. You will receive a separate billing statement for anesthesiology services from Sierra Health
Services.

Your SNMF bill may include some of the following charges:
• Sutter North Medical Group
physician charges;
• SNMF Laboratory services;
• SNMF Radiology services; and/or
• SNMF Ambulatory Surgery
Center services.
